Design + Business = Innovation.
OKAY, FINE, you caught me — that headline is a dramatic oversimplification.
But the point still stands: A special potential for innovation happens at the intersection of user-centered design thinking and business acumen. Some problems can only be solved by an anthropology-trained UX designer with an MBA.
My unique background — classically trained in ethnographic research, including fieldwork in India and Mohawk territory, but seasoned in the trenches of early-stage startups and a Fortune 100 corporate innovation lab, and with a business sense further refined with an MBA from an art school — has positioned me perfectly for what I love to do: understanding people's needs, synthesizing qualitative and quantitative insights, ideating for innovation, facilitating super-effective brainstorms and generally leading successful teams (including winning hackathons). I was introduced to the tech world after winning my first hackathon and running my own startup until I found the UX design/research field, and haven't looked back since.
